Global Intercultural Experience for Undergraduates Program, (GIEU): The Arts of New Orleans: Gender, Race, Class & Katrina, New Orleans, Louisiana 2008
4-week program set in New Orleans for undergraduate students, examining the centrality of the arts in the lives of New Orleans residents and how that way of life changed in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. Through immersion into New Orleans dance and music traditions and select partnerships with community-based arts organizations, students learned about the unique relationship of the arts to the history and development of the City of New Orleans while partnering with community-based organizations in the rebuilding of the infrastructure serving youth and adults.
